A pre-format , pre-protocol conceptual mashup of web-wide activity streams as an early expression of the impossible stream. Complementary to -- and hopefully illustrative of -- the promise of open protocols for achieving entirely new ways of publishing our research, discoveries, reflections, perspectives, contributions, collaborations. Exploring unexpected new ways of documenting, archiving, retrieving, and presenting our very digital lives as streams of interactions with people, ideas, technologies, and contexts. Tools for the internet of things, people, places, and processes when human attention is the penultimate scarce market resource.
This stream will soon be decommissioned and archived
Thanks to all those who endured the maelstrom. I've been signaling this for some time now and fully understand that the stream became increasingly polluted with cross-currents, over time. That's part of the findings. Protocols have evolved tremendously over the past couple of years and we've learned a ton here, even of a lot of that was not visible much beyond log files and analytics bar charts.
The #EarthOS global cognition grid is only now booting up to a useful command prompt and Google+ may yet well be the first retail glimpse of what's to come. Buckle your seatbelt, Dorothy. There's much more than meets the eye as we continue to Dream, Design, and Build The Impossible Stream.
Why do you keep randomly fetching YouTube items that were posted months and months ago? What is making Sweetcron think it hasn't already fetched these items or making YouTube suggest that they are new or updated?
Sigh
If so, and if you happen to see this and feel inclined to take on the challenge of figuring out a way to better parse all these various import streams, by all means, hit the Contact button at the upper right and maybe we can work something out that will benefit the cause of Activity Stream Freedom. Thanks.
Unfettered Individually Configured Interdependent Learning, Work, and Life-Stream Data? ON.
Strongly Authenticated Sociotechnologically Triangulated Non-Repudiation Based Open Global Cognition Grid Platforms and Protocols? IN PROGRESS.
Diverse Improvisational Accelerated Norm Deviations as Trial Adaptations for Epi-Cortical and Substrate Independent Extended Cognition Prosthetics? PRE-ALPHA DEV, OPEN INVITE.
It's happening, thanks to the human inflection point known as @Dewitt Clinton, in unprecedented collaboration with one of the most amazing global teams ever self-selected and assembled. It's, something wonderful to behold.
Why does sweetcron forget that it already pulled recent YouTube content and why does Delicious dish out the cluttery 500 Internal Server Error messages?
Blah. Welcome to happy 2010. Same shit, different decade. ;-)
Oops, didn't mean for the FaceFriendsLinks feed to go here; that's an incoming feed for my Feedly Google Reader; if I actually comment on those items, then they become part of my lifestream. Sorry 'bout that.
Sweetcron periodically polls YouTube for my new content there. The problem is, intermittently, sweetcron is pulling in my latest uploaded video AGAIN.
I apologize for the noise and will keep trying to identify the cause of this behavior. Of course, feel free to send your suggestions; always appreciated!
Yes, the CSS is still not handling the multitude of import formats well
Sorry about that. However, most people will not visit streams like this, they'll SUBSCRIBE. So task one is to figure out the mix of curated sites and sources that I want to offer up. Task two is making it pretty. Task three is ... well, you know ... paying for the beans and rice in bulk from Costco. Is that really asking too much?
Unlike a traditional blog, a lifestream incorporates and archives realtime interaction with information streams from disparate sites and web services. As you scroll through the contents here, you will notice that items from approximately 20 different sources appear in different color themes, along with their respective favicons in the top left corner of each posts. Direct entries like this one, of course, display the favicon of my site. You'll also notice some issues with CSS not quite displaying imported white space correctly in every case; hence, it's a work in progress.
Of course, lifestreaming and lifecasting are nothing new; however, like most new technologies, it can take years -- even decades -- for technological capabilities to become quotidian actualities. In terms of Augmented, Extended Cognition and Attention Management, we've made good progress on many fronts, yet pathetically lag on others. I suspect that the rise (and fall) of the various walled-garden and proprietary micro-blogging sites, the momentary loss of tr.im URL shortening, etc., may finally provide the next impetus for more people to take individual lifestream and link management more seriously; e.g., roll your own, and similar tools that enable non-programmers to do the same. I've presented some of these thoughts in more detail in conversations on various forums and in earlier posts; which serves to point toward one key opportunity for improvement of platforms like Sweetcron or the lifestream Wordpress plugin: the ability to easily find and reference those posts by some kind of Ubiquity-like overlay WHILE I'M TYPING this entry, rather than manually searching through bookmarks, sifting through tag clouds, or navigating other archival hard links to said items.
Hmmm ... with this site ... am I actually, somewhat accidentally creating and proposing an improvement on the @scobleizer firehose over on Friendfeed? By using sweetcron, I own my own INFORMATION AGGREGATION and CURATION STREAM and if people find that of value, I may actually be able to finally take back ownership of my own contributions to the #cognosphere ... Or, am I accidentally discovering / demonstrating an entirely new kind of meta journalism; one that continually scans as many feeds and streams in assigned topic areas as possible and SUBJECTIVELY parses those deemed incrementally more interesting or potential useful to an audience? If the commenting here were more fluid, Friendfeed style, we may well be onto what I've been projecting as a primary field of research and development for 2010 - Seamlessly Intertwined Code Creation and Cognition Streams (Waves?), featuring Realtime Human and Computer Agent Interaction.
Yes, yes, yes, I've been reading all the stuff about information processing and brain chemistry reward juice. This is dangerous stuff; but some of us have to be Space Monkeys, or none of us will ever gain a sustainable escape from gravity; much less substrate independence, right? ;-)
Please help experiment with the Friend Connect feature at the top of this page. If you already have a Google account, it only takes a few seconds to connect and we can see what opportunities might emerge from there. Thanks.
OMG! Twitter is down! Twitter is DOWN! Whatever will we do now? How will I know what to pay attention to next??? I'm soooo confused and disoriented! ROTFLMAO!
My #lifestream is just fine. How's yours doin'? See what we're talkin' about, here, maybe? Hmmm?
Definitely brings issues we’ve been talking about to light. A Google Wave like service run as a P2P network would be infinitely more robust and configurable for keeping the Global Cognition Grid online.
Nice time to revisit the classics; surely you didn't think I meant Voltaire by that suggestion, did you?
Will be enjoining the Global Cognition Grid again tomorrow, approximately NOON GMT, as usual. No need for this NOISE to spam the Twitter stream, right? Still, kind of nice to let people know when we're off-grid no?
Is it annoying that the links are all stripped away? Why yes, yes it is, actually; as is the current default CSS shlockiness of Friendfeed and other items. But we'll fix that over next week or so. Figure out the Process First; then Polish.
Not bad, below; however, I'd definitely like to INTERACT more. If I were sufficiently fortunate to find a compensated gig that would enable me to do just that, life would enter pure bonus rounds. ;-)

Hello silverton,
Our analysis shows that your Twitter influence has remained consistent since the last time you were processed. While that is not a bad thing we would love to help you become more influential. The first thing we recommend is tweeting who your influencers are. This often sparks conversation which is the key to your Klout influence.
Tweet my influencers.
Um, no thanks. Way too spammy.
These are the things that you have improved:
Network Strength - Wow, you've got influential people @ messaging and retweeting you. Great content is rewarded.
Velocity - Your tweets have been interesting enough for others to spread them to their networks.
Reach - You are gaining a strong following and your message is being heard.
Activity - You are effectively distributing your messages without overwhelming your audience or being spammy.
These are the things that you should improve:
Engagement - Try having more conversations and less one sided broadcasting.
Demand - Your network has either decreased in size or you've had to deliberately follow a lot more people to reach your current size (or Twitter recently purged a ton of spam-bots; which is the case in this instance). Follow anyone you think is interesting but be sure to engage with your network and don't just follow to be followed in return. (I already stick to this policy, so this part of the analysis isn't really dead-on, due to aforementioned mass spam/bot eradication).
Thanks! The Klout Team
P.S. Time to get back to the custom css to see why markdown isn't being properly interpreted on the live page. Looks fine in the editor; just not out here in the real world.
Yeah, just to clarify, liked items from FF included here. This is one way that lifestreams intertwine. You'll see thoughts from others for which I've expressed some positive affinity.
