Note to self: I’m sure this would never happen to YOU, but maybe someone you know. If you happen to have one of those feckless days and use the wrong default template to update your self-selected canonical identity page, the GoogleBot will drop you like a hot potato, even from being the #1 result for many years on a particular search just days before. This is actually a comforting accidental re-discovery of the relative effectiveness of the No Archive Initiative and related META tags. Of course, equally interesting will be the follow up to this post (today, tomorrow, or whenever I finally notice a change) that reports whether the recently botch index has been restored to it’s former two-decades-in-development orientation. ;-)
