How do we live, work, learn, and enjoy life in general in this new always-on, always-realtime, Global Cognition Grid we call the Cognosphere? Hell if I know, we're all just thinking out loud to see if we can find out, together.
So far, building on the blips of conversation below, I'm categorizing my activities over the past year of experimentation into 5 categories, which we can expound upon, later, if the interest becomes apparent:
* Processing: Studiously following both rapidly flowing message stream (friendfeed, identi.ca, twitter, etc) and real-time filtered flows (feedly, google reader, publish2); while taking the time to follow links, scan material, tag items, curate, skip item, mark for later, or stop and read closely, read & respond to email, etc.
* Broadcasting: Sharing what I've learned, promoting a cause, advancing an idea, etc.
* Interaction: Engaging in many-to-many conversation or collective cognition during a conference or similar event.
* Curation: Purely culling the streams and RT'ing or Lifestreaming items of interest or salience to a particular academic theme or group interest.
* Publication: these days, consists primary of blogging, but it could just as well be a white paper, position paper, proposal, or any other common business or academic artifact.
Your contributions, as always, invited below.
The proportion of my time on any given day can shift among these activities. For instance, on some days, my profile may look like:
* Processing: 20%
* Broadcasting: 40%
* Interaction: 5%
* Curation: 30%
* Publication: 5%
On other days, it may look more like:
* Processing: 50%
* Broadcasting: 5%
* Interaction: 25%
* Curation: 5%
* Publication: 15%
Your contributions, as always, invited above.
