My quick review of the Droid x. Basically, it's what the original Droid should have been. It's a worthy upgrade from that device. Also, it beats the evo by a good margin, mainly because the battery life is dramatically better. Also, radio reception, be it cellular or wifi, is a lot better than the evo. Finally, the Swype keyboard is so good, I can compose long posts like this one on it. I would never have attempted this on the original Droid or evo. Now, there is one giant negative. The browser, a key component of the whole phone experience, seems to suffer from a serious flaw that I don't experience on the original Droid, evo, or ipad. Specifically, the browser barfs on advanced features of Google's web apps that use the storage api. For instance, attempting to @ reply someone from the buzz mobile page causes the page to hang in the Droid x with a message that it is loading. On all other devices mentioned, after a brief delay, a list of possible completions appears.I have tried the standard tricks of clearing cookies and cache to no avail on this particular problem with this particular phone. I've also tried it on my wife's phone to the same effect.Admittedly, not many people are going to notice this problem. Further, contact completion from the gmail web interface works, so the problem seems solvable. Still, you have to be at least surprised that the latest and greatest Google branded phone doesn't work properly with all Google sites from day one. It's also perhaps ironic that I, who did not initially see the point of mobile buzz am hinging a big part of my review on it. However, after multiple phones from Google and purchasing my own, I'm a convert. Come on Google and Motorola, fix this irritation. But for this irritation, the Droid x is the best cloud phone yet. I really like it otherwise.
