Solar technology is getting much easier and cheaper to install as a DIY project. Among the five products described by Jetson Green, I'm most intrigued by Clarion's 2011 planned releases: Solar panels and wind turbines that generate 120 AC current and can be plugged directly into a standard wall-socket with no wiring modifications, building permits, etc.. So, given that I live in a south facing apartment in New York City, I should be able to buy one of these solar panel kits, prop it up in a window, simply plug the thing into a wall-socket and then monitor my savings with Google PowerMeter. Cool!
